🐮 WHAT YOU'LL MAKE
• One adult Highland cow and one smaller baby calf.
• A seated pair made with the same yarn thickness and hook.
• Optional flower and leaf instructions for the calf.
PATTERN FEATURES
• One 34-page A4 PDF, written in English.
• Step-by-step written instructions and 12 instructional visuals.
• Separate adult and calf shaping, round counts and placement guidance.
• Troubleshooting, quick-reference tables and project notes.
• Linked contents to help you find the section you need.
The body and head are worked as one piece, with the legs and ears crocheted into the rounds. The muzzle and two horns are sewn on for each animal. The loose-strand fringe needs its roots secured with sewing stitches, and optional decorations also require sewing. This is a low-sew pattern, with some assembly required.
📏 APPROXIMATE FINISHED SIZE
• Adult: 25–30 cm / approximately 10–12 inches.
• Calf: 15–18 cm / approximately 6–7 inches.
Heights are measured seated, including the horns. Yarn, hook size, tension and stuffing affect the final dimensions.
MATERIALS YOU'LL NEED
• Category 6 super bulky chenille or plush yarn in caramel, cream and dark cocoa.
• A 5 mm hook, adjusted if needed to achieve the recommended fabric.
• Approximately 250 g polyester stuffing for the pair.
• Eyes: approximately 20–22 mm for the adult and 12–14 mm for the calf, or embroidery yarn for stitched eyes.
• A blunt yarn needle, stitch markers, scissors, ruler and measuring tape.
• Smooth, strong matching yarn for assembly and fringe roots, plus dark brown yarn for nostrils.
• Optional flower and leaf: small amounts of cream, yellow and green DK yarn and a 3 mm hook.
Estimated yarn allowances for the pair are 300–380 m caramel, 65–90 m cream and 65–90 m cocoa. Check your yarn label and the PDF's gauge guidance before buying supplies.
Follow the pattern's safety notes. For a make intended for a young child, embroider the eyes and omit the loose-strand fringe, flower and leaf.
